Our most popular photography course in Brisbane, this workshop combines essential camera theory with practical, hands-on shooting, making it the perfect starting point for anyone looking to take control of their camera and develop their creative skills. The day begins with an easy-to-follow introduction to the fundamentals of photography, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus modes and exposure. After a relaxed pub lunch, you'll head out for a guided practical session where you'll put your new knowledge into action in real-world shooting situations. As the light fades, you'll also be introduced to the fundamentals of low-light and night photography. What You'll Learn How to confidently control exposure using aperture, shutter speed and ISO (the Exposure Triangle) When and why to use Manual mode instead of Auto Understanding autofocus modes and selective focusing techniques How lens focal length affects your images and choosing the right lens for different situations Creating depth of field for creative effect Using ISO effectively in varying lighting conditions Essential techniques for low-light and night photography ​ Camera Requirements: A Mirrorless, DSLR or micro four-thirds camera is recommended, as they offer the necessary manual functions. While smaller 'bridge cameras' are also welcome, it's advisable to confirm with us before securing your spot. Tripods and loan cameras can be arranged upon request.
