Night / long exposure photography course
Learn how to take amazing photos after the sun has set.

Just because the sun has set it doesn’t mean we have to put the cameras away, with a little knowledge and assistance from our tutors you can take amazing photos at night. Landscapes, painting with light, light trails and more – during this short night photography course in Brisbane you will learn lots of essential techniques and tricks as we explore the city at night.
Please note : Some basic knowledge of exposure (Aperture, shutter and ISO) is recommend, please consider doing the Beginners Photography Workshop prior to doing this course.

This short two hour practical workshop is packed with tips and advice on how to take great photos after dark. A small group guided by a Photo Genius tutor ensures everyone gets plenty of attention and the chance to capture some great photos of Brisbane city at night. We start at Howard Smith Wharves with some shots of the sunset setting over the Story Bridge before moving onto Wilson outlook reserve for an elevated view of the city lights.
Student numbers are strictly limited with loan tripods provided free of charge upon request.
What you will learn and topics discussed

How to take great night shots using the cameras manual mode.

Camera settings and balancing exposure at night (aperture, shutter speed, ISO).

What you should bring
A DSLR, Mirrorless or Micro 4/3 camera with a fully charged battery
A spare battery if you have one
Standard lens (18-55mm is perfect) or wide angle if you have one.
Memory card with plenty of space
A tripod (we can also supply one upon request)
A camera remote (if you have one, not essential)
Please note this course does not run during the summer months.
